The J1M Wellness Story

Hi, I'm Maria Tobin (aka "Coach Tobes"), founder of J1M Wellness!

 

Growing up, I was very active, playing sports and loving basketball most of my life. As college and basketball were both coming to an end, so were my feelings of passion and purpose.  My mental health started to decline and, although I put a smile on my face most days, I was dying inside.  My life was spiraling downward, consumed with partying, alcohol, disordered eating, self-harm and depression.

Thankfully, through that all, I was blessed to work in the IT field with a great boss, great team, great coworkers and great community. In parallel to that, though, some connections were made and doors were opened for me that ended up changing the whole direction of my life. I got around entrepreneurs with a dream, not just for bettering their own lives, but for bettering the lives of everyone around them. They put books in my hand that I had never heard of before. They shared trainings and podcasts for topics like servant leadership, business mentality, the power of controlling my thoughts and words, holistic health and wellness, time management, budgeting, sales and networking, and purpose driven mentorship and coaching. Little by little, it was changing me on the inside and giving me hope again. When sports ended after college, I thought the fire had gone out entirely, but I found out there was still a pilot light flickering. Every time I read a few pages, listened to a podcast and got around other dreamers, it poured gas on that fire more and more until I became fanatical about living a purpose-driven life; eating right, moving right, speaking right and being a light to everyone around me! 

 

As thankful as I was for my IT career and my amazing coworkers, I knew that it was time to step away and go full in on the dream God was growing inside of me. Now, I am passionate about using my journey—and the principles and truths I’ve learned and applied—alongside my NASM Nutrition and Wellness Coach certifications to help as many people as I can. I am obsessed with doing whatever it takes to help Just1More life, Just1More couple, Just1More family be changed for the better!
