Let ALL the kernels pop!

I love me some popcorn! It’s one of my favorite treats. I usually make it on the stove with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle it with Himalayan pink sea salt. So good…and now I want some. 🍿

But have you ever stopped to think about how popcorn actually works?

You put the kernels in the pan, turn on the heat, and for several minutes…nothing happens. They just sit there. Then you hear the first pop and get excited—but most of the kernels are still doing nothing. A moment later: pop, pop, pop. Suddenly, the pan is full of this delicious treat.

What if you decided the popcorn “wasn’t working” during that first quiet minute? Or, what if you took the pan off the stove after the first few pops? You’d end up with three pieces of popcorn and a pan full of unpopped potential.

Here’s the lesson: 80% of the results happen in the last 20% of the time. And that’s exactly how change in your wellness works.

When you start making small, consistent changes, you may not feel anything at first. You might not notice a difference. Then, a few months in, someone compliments you and you think, Okay…maybe this is working. Keep going, and 12 months later, you’re a completely different version of yourself.

That’s the power of the compound effect.

Don’t give up on a habit a few weeks in just because it doesn’t look like much has changed. Don’t pull the pan off the stove after a few pops. Give your brain time to rewrite its neural pathways by consistently following through on what you said you were going to do.

Because in the end, when all the kernels have popped, you’re left with something worth enjoying—a healthier, stronger version of you!
